The Golden Lions received the opening kickoff and had a 10-play drive that ended with a Chase Hendrick 27 yard Field Goal. The Golden Lions would add 28 more points in the half and lead 31-0 at half-time. The Golden Lions had 301 yards of total offense in the 1st half.
The Golden Lions would finish with 540 yards of total offense (198 rushing/342 passing) and complete their 2nd consecutive shut-out in conference play, 51-0 over the Hilltoppers. Malik Sarratt led the way with 293 yards passing on 22 of 31 passing and 3 TD’s. Tucker Greene had 6 receptions for 105 yards and 1 TD. Fabian Pettis had 5 receptions for 63 yards and scored his 1st varsity TD. Xavier Brooks had 11 rushing attempts for 73 yards and 1 TD.
The Golden Lions punt team had 2 blocked punts (Dax Hollifield & Jaylon Scott) and both were returned for TD’s (Tre’ Jolly & Josh Smith). The defense held RS Central to 1 total yard of offense ( -17 rushing/ 18 passing). Dax Hollifield had 8 total tackles including 6 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. Tre’ Jolly had 5 total tackles including 4 tackles for loss and 1 sack. The overall defense finished with 20 tackles for loss and 7 sacks.
The Golden Lions will travel to Mount Holly next Friday night to face the East Gaston Warriors. The two teams have not played each other in a regular season game since 1984.
