The Golden Lions hosted the East Rutherford Cavaliers for senior night in a SMAC matchup. The Cavaliers received the opening kickoff and were forced to punt after 3 plays. Shelby’s Ja’hari Mitchell received the punt and went 55 yards for a TD, Jack Berkowitz kicked the extra point for an early 7-0 lead for the Golden Lions. The Golden Lions scored on all 6 of their first half possessions and lead at halftime 49-7. The Golden Lions scored on 2 of their 3 second half possessions for the 63-7 win. Jack Berkowitz was promoted to the varsity team this week and was perfect on all 9 extra point attempts. Senior receiver Jecari Shell scored his first career TD. The Golden Lions will travel to Belmont next Friday to face the South Point Red Raiders in the final regular season game of the season.

The Golden Lions offense had 410 yards on the night and 18 first downs, 190 yards rushing and 220 yards passing. Isaiah Bess went 14/16 passing for 225 yards and 4 TD’s. Donye Fuller had 7 rushing attempts for 90 yards and 2 TD’s. Ja’hari Mitchell had 4 receptions for 60 yards and 2 punt returns for 83 yards and 1 TD. Diavonni Daley had 4 receptions for 66 yards and 1 TD. Kamarde Huskey added 4 receptions for 73 yards and 1 TD. Lax Welch and Omar Phillips both had rushing TD’s.

The Golden Lions defense allowed 158 yards of offense to the Cavaliers, negative 8 yards rushing and 166 yards passing. Malaki Hamrick had 7 total tackles including 4 tackles for loss and 2 1/2 sacks. Jack Hollifield had 8 total tackles including 2 tackles for loss and 1 1/2 sacks. Nick Stites and Quavis Tate each had 8 total tackles. Santanna Flack had 6 total tackles including 2 tackles for loss. Tyler Arrington had his 4th interception of the season.
