The Golden Lions hosted the RS Central Hilltoppers for Homecoming. The Golden Lions were forced to punt on their first possession but pinned the Hilltoppers at their own 1 yard line to begin their first possession. The Hilltoppers were forced to punt on their first possession and the punt was blocked by Tyler Arrington and recovered in the end zone by Dashaun Christopher and after Caden Sheely kicked the extra point, the Golden Lions led 7-0. The Golden Lions would scored 3 more scores before halftime and led at the break 28-0. The Golden Lions would score on all 4 of their 2nd half possessions and earned their 2nd consecutive shutout by defeating RS Central 51-0. The Golden Lions will travel to face the Chase Trojans next Friday. The Golden Lions are now 5-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.
Isaiah Bess had a big night, completing 12 of 19 passes for 295 yards and 5 TD passes. Diavonni Daley had 5 receptions for 154 yards and 3 TD’s. Ja’hari Mitchell had 5 receptions for 114 yards and 2 TD’s. Caden Sheely converted 6 extra points and kicked a career long 38 yard Field Goal. The Golden Lions finished with 380 yards of total offense (84 rushing/ 296 passing).
The Golden Lions defense allowed 185 yards of offense (113 rushing/ 72 passing) tot he Hilltoppers. RS Central had 166 yards at halftime but the Golden Lions only allowed the Hilltoppers 19 yards of total offense in the 2nd half, zero possessions on Shelby’s side of the field in the 2nd half. Dashaun Christopher had 8 total tackles and recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for Shelby’s first touchdown. Nick Stites added 7 total tackles including 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, and 1 fumble recovery. Jack Hollifield also had 8 total tackles. Nick Corry had 5 total tackles including 1 tackle for loss.
