The Golden Lions returned home to the Lion’s den to defeat the Kings Mountain Mountaineers 28-23 in the Battle of Buffalo Creek. Shelby has now won 8 consecutives games vs the Mountaineers. The Golden Lions led 21-10 at the half. The Golden Lions now 2-3 on the season have an open date on September 21st and will travel to Mount Pleasant on September 28th for the last non-conference game of the season.

The Shelby offense was led by Isaiah Bess who finished 14/25 passing for 186 yards and 1 TD. Donye Fuller finished with 15 yards rushing, 2 TD’s and 35 yards receiving. Diovanni Daley had 2 receptions for 84 yards and 1 TD. Kobe Farmer had a very good night punting the ball, 9 punts for 290 yards, an average of 32.2 yards per punt and had 2 punts downed inside Kings Mountain’s 20-yard line.

The Golden Lions defense was lead by Tre Jolly, 8 total tackles including 1 tackle for loss and 1 sack, and Dorian Davis, 4 total tackles, including 1 tackle for loss, 1 interception. 1 caused fumble, 1 fumble recovery which was returned for a TD to give the Lions a 28-16 lead in the 4th quarter. Ethan Mitchell had 6 total tackles including 1 tackles for loss and 1 sack.
